Losing Touch

What are we looking for? Are we looking for the truth or has the truth found us? Paranormal research is a field of dreams, hopes and hard to prove phenomena. Each group has their own integrity and reputation to maintain in this quest of joining knowledge, skills and experience. But are we many groups of separate people who search for the same thing or are we one group that has the same ideas and opinions?

I would like to think that we are one big group of individuals that share a common interest, we are not competing nor are we trying to gain fame and fortune. But in actuality things seem to be different, paranormal phenomenon is not an exact science that is easily proved. For the most part of this we have a hard enough time trying to be taken seriously in what we do and then the other is revealing what we have found to be authentic to a skeptic.

My number one goal in this field is to research the paranormal and help clients that are in need of answers. I do not think that being the most top dog in this field has nothing to do with who is better than another. As a group, you earn that reputation, your not assigned one like a social security number. The number one priority is to maintain your professionalism and follow your own guidelines, which is usually the same guidelines we all follow.

It is atrocious to see what is going on in the paranormal community. The politics and bickering need to be set aside. For me to see this makes me think that there are other reasons why some are in this field. Like I said above, paranormal research is not an exact science, but yet there are some that are willing to make a profit from it. You cannot make a profit on something you do not know all the answers to.

And what I don’t understand is the augmentative statements I see time to time while I browse the web about who did this or who did that. We are researching the same exact thing, how can this cause so many different feuds? I am not here to judge, but I am concerned about what I see. Just remember what the real reasons are as to why you got into this field. I think that some may have lost its way somewhere.

Life is short and time is precious, why waste it on some petty little differences that end up going no where and ruining reputations. Instead try joining together and help the community seek these answers that we all work so hard into finding. In the long run a positive attitude leads to a better understanding and long friendship with your fellow researchers.

Debunking The Bunk

Jul 17, 2008 @ 05:10 am by Administrator

Who knew that paranormal research would come this far? Over the course years we have pushed forward with desire to find what lies beyond our physical world. With each investigator, the spark that lit the flame of their ongoing quest to find the truth has only given them the strength and passion to take that giant step.

Each group has done the research and scientifically experimented with different methods and technology to help their study push on to the next level. Investigating techniques can range from different levels as there can be many natural and manmade causes that can be easily ruled away. Not only are we seeking out the paranormal, we are having to combine a knowledge of different professions into one because of the manmade circumstances that are continually around us each day of our lives.

There are many different areas we examine as we are trying to rule out all manmade or natural occurrences. Below you will find some of the areas we research before considering genuine paranormal activity.

Electrical issues can cause a high EMF (Electromagnetic Field). Some of the side effects can be very harmful to those that are around this and causes for concern about the long-term effects of the exposure to these high levels. You can get the feeling of being watched, headaches, seeing unexplained phenomena, feel nausea and become dizzy if you are living in an area that is highly concentrated. Another concern of electrical issues could arise in faulty or old wiring. Not only could this cause your lights to flicker or cause your appliances to whack out, it could be very dangerous and cause a fire.

We should also bring in the plumbing facts of this into our discussion. For those that hear unexplained noises in your walls or under your floors, you may want to take a look and see if there could possibly be any loose pipes. Flushing of water through these pipes can sound like rapping or banging noises, some could also give the effect of footsteps depending on what location you are in your home. Not to mention if there is a steady running of water, it may result in a leak which could weaken your floors and cause rotten wood and mildew which we will discuss in another paragraph.

Mold and mildew are just as toxic; these can also cause health issues and should be removed. They only need a damp and moist environment and an organic material to establish themselves to. Some of the side effects for sensitive people may experience headaches, runny noses, skin rashes, nausea, sinus problems, memory loss and coughs. They may feel listless for long periods of time. In short, they feel as though they have a perpetual case of the flu. All in all a lot of these side effects are sometime confused with paranormal occurrences.

Chemicals, including unused paint, being stored inside your home should be immediately looked into and removed from any living quarters. This is hazardous to the entire family. Some common signs and symptoms of over-exposure to paint fumes is dizziness, headaches, frequent runny nose or eyes. In severe cases, you may experience difficulty breathing, tremors or shaky hands, irritability, memory loss, or slurred speech. If you experience any of these symptoms after exposure to paint fumes, consult your physician immediately.

The history of a location could bring a wealth of knowledge not only you but for any investigative team that you may consider having come in. Also to note, finding out what the landscape is of your area could hold clues to the circumstances behind it. You can never have too much history of your home and location.

Another thing to consider is looking for vermin in your home. Not only can they get into your attic, they could also get inside your walls. The noises can range from scratching, unexplained noises, and things dropping to footsteps and can totally mislead someone into thinking that it is of paranormal nature.  They could also do more harm than most realize by chewing electrical wiring and leaving their droppings behind which can contaminate the entire area with their odor.

So as Dee Bunker puts it, could the repeated knockings be that the central heating pipes are acting up? Would those creaking footsteps be the old floorboards contracting as the temperature drops? What about those spooky cold spots? Maybe there are drafts or holes near walls or windows. How about those ghostly lights on the ceilings, those could possibly be the reflections from the road traffic passing by. Could it be a scratching poltergeist or just maybe there are birds on the roof, or mice in the walls or ceilings. A damp patch on the wall could cast a shadowy figure; wispy fog could depict a pale phantom on the side of the road.

We as paranormal researchers have to look for rational explanations; once we have ruled out all natural causes can only be the time where we say that paranormal activity exists. It’s a tough road to follow but the dedication and desire to find the truth keeps us going.

The Ghost Fear Factor

Jun 29, 2008 @ 05:11 am by Administrator

Ghostly encounters over the course of years, has earned its reputation as being harmful to humans as the scare tactic has elevated. The root of the cause could be associated with the fear of the unknown and what lies beyond this existence as we all know of it. Most people would admit that they would be completely frightened if they ever encountered a ghost, it is the thought of something leaping out from nowhere unexpectedly without so much as a warning beforehand. Even seasoned investigators may not  be prepared for such a happening.

The fear factor could also be that ghostly happenings cannot be controlled and they come and go as they please. Ghosts are something that is uncertain and with that comes fear and the question of why they are even here is a question that still cannot be answered. No one knows for sure what triggers paranormal phenomena.

So, what does a ghost represent? A ghost is believed to be the form or spirit of a dead person appearing to those still living; the visible disembodied soul of a dead person. There are many definitions of this word that mean the same thing. Not only do we have the thought of seeing a ghost, but the mental thought of death itself. We all have thought about this one time or another, what happens after death? Could this be the main reason so many are frightened? I wish I had the answer, hopefully one day we will.

How can we change this perspective and give a different outlook on the paranormal? It is a hard question to answer since over the course of years movies, books, folklores and tales have portrayed ghosts as being scary, bad and evil. People do not change their emotions or their personalities after death, plus they do not turn evil.

There have been a few cases from around the world from people who have experienced unexplained paranormal phenomena and explaining that witnessing this event had changed their life in a good way. It has helped them cope and understand that seeing is believing.

The paranormal world is a huge place and people are more open now than ever before, with so many questions about the paranormal, it’s hard to grasp what the truth really is. But for the majority of the population, the question of whether or not this anomalous phenomenon really exists is still up for debate. We as paranormal investigators know and do not need to be convinced. But the other half has a hard time unless they have a personal experience of their own. There are far too many unexplained occurrences to cast them aside as some sort of coincidence.

We can take the word “fear” and consider it man-made; you can overcome this by taking your life back and standing your ground. You are the one with the power and never give this up by showing fear. My advice would be to eliminate fear, evaluate the personal experiences and read up on the true facts of paranormal phenomena.

The state of things as they actually exist?

When does reality set in on your paranormal research? We all know as seasoned investigators how much work is involved in running a group. The basics are long gone and building a steady structure within your group is an ever changing concept. How far do you want to go? This depends on how much desire you have to push forward into to this exciting field.

The most important part of a team is its members. Without members you are flying solo with a one way ticket. Team members each have specific duties in the group which makes the group run smooth. When members of your group pitch in and help complete a case from start to finish they have the same passion for helping find the truth and the desire to keep the group together. But when there are only a few that want to dedicate time outside of the investigation to help complete whatever needs to be completed, you may need to step forward as your groups Founder and resolve these situations.

Remember the investigation is MORE than the investigation. There are many steps into completing a case. It involves time and commitment. You have so much that has to be wrapped up before planning the next investigation. Consulting clients and Evidence Analysis is very time consuming and important.  These are only two examples of a list you could not imagine.

Among these team members you build a bond and a relationship with them as if they are a part of your family. You visit team members outside of the group for just plain get together’s and this means that you are more than comfortable around your peers and the pressure is relieved from going on investigations together.

For new groups, don’t get discouraged, it could take months to years to find those that are completely dedicated to paranormal research. There can be times of mishaps and mistakes, but with these mistakes you learn from them and put them in the past. If team members cannot be forgiving at times then something is definitely wrong. I assure you that members come and go, but there are a million more to fill the slots.

Each member of your team may or may not agree with what the Founder of a group has decided and most likely they will leave because things are not going their way.  But you have to be firm and stand by your own decision. After all, you are the Founder, you started the group and I am pretty sure you will not abandon it. In a perfect world everything is perfect, but unfortunately that is not the world we live in.

Serious investigators should have enough respect to come to their Founder with a problem, should any arise. Take your time choosing your members; make sure they understand how much work is involved in running a group and how much time they will have to commit to it. Through firsthand experience I have been there. I have had many members, whom I thought were my real friends, come to find out it was a different story because they do not agree with everything, but you have to assure that rules are being followed. You move on and start over because what else is there left to do.

Just remember, do not get discouraged. Things never stay the same and who knows maybe something better is around the corner.

The Ghosts Are Real On British Horror Film Set

Mar 28, 2008 @ 05:18 am by Administrator

The cast of a new Brit horror movie being filmed on the Liverpool set of soap Brookside today claimed the infamous close is haunted.

Stars of gorefest movie Salvage said they have been terrified by paranormal activity on the cul-de-sac fictional soap madman Trevor Jordache was buried.

Now the actors have dubbed the set “Spookside”.

Director Lawrence Gough’s film sees residents trapped in “The Close” by military snipers hunting a suspected terrorist.

The plot turns into a bloodfest as something more sinister starts to wreak murderous havoc.

Actor Shaun Dooley, 33, who plays main character Kieran, said: “There’s been some strange things going on and the cast are convinced this street is haunted.

“We’ve dubbed it Spookside.

“At certain times of the day – the lights flicker out and photographs have gone missing from the set.

“And we haven’t been able to shoot the final scene in the woods because every time we approach the set dark clouds appear and gale force winds blow up.

“It’s as if the ghosts of Brookside Close don’t want us to be filming here and it’s freaking people out.”

No less than 72 characters were killed off during the Liverpool soap’s 21-year history.

Director Laurence Gough, 37, believes the close is the perfect set for a horror movie.

He said: “When we heard Brookside Close was available I thought it was an absolute must.

“The whole film is about turning a respectable street upside down and this was the ideal place for us. It’s a great set for a horror movie.”

The £250,000 film due out in autumn has been promised a glitzy premiere in Liverpool as part of the Capital of Culture programme.

Is This Mystery Cat a Jaguarundi?

Feb 25, 2008 @ 05:23 am by Administrator

A big cat spotted by a fisherman may be a jaguarundi, according to an expert.

The angler reported seeing a strange “cat-like” animal while fishing at a Snodland lake on Friday of last week.

Neil Arnold, from Kent Big Cat Research, said the angler, known only as Ron, saw a dark grey animal the size of a fox, with a long thick tail, on the other side of the water.

He said the animal was “mooching” around, walking from left to right, then right to left before disappearing into the trees.

According to Mr Arnold it is the second sighting in the area of what he believes could be a jaguarundi. A similar creature was seen near the lake last month.

The jaguarundi is native to South America and resembles a member of the mustelid family, which includes badgers, wolverines, and otters.

Mr Arnold said this type of big cat was far less common than others spotted around the county which are thought to be black leopards, pumas and lynx.

Mr Arnold said; “Because they look like foxes a lot of people do not bother to report them. Fishermen have said they know there is a black leopard in Snodland, but this is something different.”

He said the animal could have escaped from a private collection and would eat birds, rabbits and rodents.
